We are kicking off the new year with the latest innovations presented by ASUS in Las Vegas. Aside from the fact that I am a fan of the brand and simply like most of their products, this presentation was truly well-executed. It wasn't just about promoting new ASUS smartphones, but also about the new technologies that are becoming accessible to everyone in the mobile devices most of us carry in our pockets. I am referring to Google's Project TANGO. The showcased devices also represent another qualitative leap in the field of photography. The quality of photos captured by phones is starting to rival that of handheld cameras, which may soon find themselves replaced by smartphone-integrated shooters. Things are getting really interesting in the mobile industry, especially considering that these devices can now be equipped with 8GB of RAM. Just a few years ago, personal computers didn't even have such hardware specifications. Augmented reality, as an overlay on our real world, also enables new experiences and is finding increasingly interesting applications. For those who missed yesterday's conference, I have included the recording below.
