The fact that Google knows everything is nothing new. It is also no secret that they know a lot about us as users. However, the sheer amount of data they possess might come as a surprise. The "My Activity" tool is no longer a test application, but a professional instrument proving that nothing can be hidden from Google. You probably won't be surprised that your searches and location (if you have consented to location tracking) are being recorded, but the fact that Google also knows when and which app you launched on your smartphone, how many times you sent an SMS, where and at what time you were, what you were doing, and much, much more, only highlights the scale of data collection by this internet giant. On one hand, kudos to Google for giving us the ability to view the data they collect about us and the option to manage it. There is an option to delete activity, but does this deletion mean the data disappears entirely, or does it only disappear from our sight? We don't really have a way to verify that.
