For some time now, I've been thinking about automating everything that can be automated, effectively eliminating "monkey work" and repetitive tasks. For instance, every time I get into my car, I have to remember to turn on Bluetooth to connect to my hands-free kit. You could, of course, leave Bluetooth on all the time, but that just drains the battery. It would be better to enable Bluetooth at specific times and disable it when it's not needed. The same approach can be applied to Wi-Fi and other services. Taking it a step further, you can set specific profiles or ringtone volumes at the right time, or leave only vibration mode on at night, and so on. Apparently, I’m not the only one who has wondered how to achieve this, and there are already apps that handle this topic. One of them, which I find sufficiently good, is AutomateIt. It is available in many languages, and the feature set is very extensive while remaining simple to use—all of which makes it, arguably, the perfect tool. The program allows you to set up many recurring tasks and reactions to specific events, such as SMS messages from a specific person, from a specific number, or containing a specific text phrase. Triggering a given action can be based on a specific GPS location, a specific time (day, hour), or as a consequence of another service's activity. I won't go into more detail; see for yourself.
