Can sounds influence the mind, mood, and well-being? It turns out they can. A specially composed track based on scientific research into the impact of music on the mind is intended to prove this. The goal was to create a composition that would induce a state of complete relaxation and calm in the listener. The task was undertaken by the musical group Marconi Union. The track is titled "Weightless." Research results show that the goal was achieved. The best way to find out is to experience it yourself. All you need is a pair of headphones, and in 8 minutes, you will see for yourself if you can actually achieve the feelings of relaxation promised by scientific evidence. The song begins at 60 beats per minute and gradually slows down to 50 BPM, which is intended to guarantee a state of calm and relaxation. Sound therapist Lyz Cooper, founder of the British Academy of Sound Therapy, was also involved in the creation of the track. The 8-minute duration is also no coincidence. It relates to the time it takes for the heart rate to synchronize with a piece of music, which is approximately 5 minutes. The melody of the track progresses without repetition, so the brain does not try to predict what will happen next, avoiding the need to catch a rhythm. All of this is designed to help the listener feel fully relaxed in a short amount of time. In my opinion, there is something to it. However, it is best to try it for yourself.
