🔄 Update (16.06.2026):
Since this post was originally published in 2017, the Opera browser has undergone a massive transformation, evolving from version 48 to releases based on Chromium 120+. Today, Opera offers significantly more advanced features, including the built-in Aria AI, an integrated sidebar with access to messaging apps, and a dedicated Opera GX mode for gamers.
Modern Opera focuses on privacy and performance, offering users:
- Built-in free VPN and ad/tracker blocking.
- Advanced tab management (Workspaces) and the Flow feature for cross-device synchronization.
- Deep support for AI technologies, which have replaced the simple screenshot tools of years past.
Opera 48 has been released, featuring not only bug fixes but also the ability to take full-page or partial screenshots directly from the browser (via the camera icon in the sidebar). The number of currencies and units that can be converted on the fly after selection has increased, which I find quite convenient. The main menu layout has also been tidied up, making it easier and more logical to navigate. The browser is now powered by Chromium 61. Beyond that, as always, it is faster, cooler, and more secure. I have been using Opera for quite a few releases now and do not miss other browsers. I still keep an eye on Vivaldi and Chrome, but for now, Opera remains my primary window to web content. Keep it up! If you would like to try this browser yourself, you can download it here: https://www.opera.com/pl/computer.
