If you come across an interesting article, video, or other content online but don't have time to read it right now, or simply want to save it for later, you typically add the link to your bookmarks. Another option is to use an external "web clipper" application such as Evernote, Pocket, OneNote, or similar tools. These tools usually provide a browser plugin and a desktop version of the application designed to organize the collected notes that you want to access later. Google is now joining this category of tools as well. For now, it is not yet a product on par with the well-known tools mentioned earlier, but it could become an interesting alternative in the future. Currently, you add a bookmark by clicking on the round yellow star icon, and then you can easily organize the bookmark using tags. A similar solution exists on Facebook, where you can save any post for later.
For now, it is simply a collection of bookmarks pointing to specific materials, and I am not sure if this tool will evolve toward saving copies of the content so that they remain available even if the original source is no longer accessible. However, Google is clearly making a move to establish its own presence in this type of application.
