Nowadays, almost no one remembers what it was like before the internet. We search the web for answers to all our questions, treating the information we find as reliable and placing our trust in it. The most popular oracle is Google. Millions of queries are entered into Google every single day. Another vital part of our online life is the world of social networks, where Facebook is the undisputed king. But are the answers we get from Google or the posts visible on our Facebook feeds really what we want to see, or is Big Brother feeding us results specifically tailored to us? Results that could influence the decisions we make based on receiving one specific answer over another. Eli Pariser was already pondering this back in March 2011. Below is his TED talk.
